Bill Read, the chief of the local National Weather Service forecast office has been named acting deputy director of the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

We filmed Bill a couple of months ago giving a hurricane-preparedness seminar during a Texas City town meeting. It is currently being broadcast on Comcast cable channel 16 through hurricane season.
